Veteran Tamil film producer and actor Mohan Natarajan, best known for his role in Kamal Haasan’s Mahanadhi, has passed away at the age of 71 due to age-related health issues. He died at around 10:30 pm on September 3 in Chennai. His body will be kept at his residence in Saligramam for public homage until noon today, September 4.
Mohan Natarajan had an illustrious career as a producer, contributing to numerous successful films such as Vijay’s Kannukkul Nilavu, Vikram’s Deiva Thirumagal, Ajith Kumar’s Aalwar, and Suriya’s Vel, among many others.
Natarajan began his producing career in 1986, in collaboration with producer Tharangai V. Shanmugam, with the film Pookalai Parikadheergal, directed by V. Azhagappan and starring Suresh and Nadhiya. He also produced En Thangachi Padichava, directed by P. Vasu, which enjoyed a successful 100-day run at the box office. The film featured Prabhu, Rupini, and Chithra in the lead roles. In addition to his work as a producer, Mohan Natarajan appeared as a villain in the 1989 film Enga Annan Varattum and other films like Kottai Vaasal and Velai Kidaichiruchu.
His contribution to Tamil cinema will always be remembered.
